Panda’s Pedals – Pupil Expectations & Learning Agreement

Learning to drive with Panda’s Pedals is a team effort. This document sets out the expectations, responsibilities, and approach that help create a safe, productive, and respectful learning environment.

1. Learning Approach

Panda’s Pedals uses a client-centred coaching approach, meaning:

• The Instructor will not simply provide constant instructions.

• The Learner will be asked questions to encourage thinking and independent decision-making.

• The Learner is expected to analyse situations and identify appropriate actions.

This approach is designed to develop safe, confident, and independent drivers — not just to prepare someone to pass a test.

2. Learner Responsibilities

The Learner is expected to:

• Arrive on time and be willing to learn.

• Communicate openly during lessons.

• Actively engage in the learning process.

• Behave in a polite and respectful manner.

• Be willing to reflect on and learn from mistakes.

• Accept that mistakes are a normal and necessary part of progress.

If the learner is unwilling to engage in the learning process, Panda’s Pedals reserves the right to withdraw tuition.

3. Behaviour Policy

The following behaviour will not be tolerated:

• Abusive, aggressive, or threatening behaviour.

• Discriminatory language or actions.

• Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Repeated disruptive or disrespectful conduct.

If such behaviour occurs, the lesson will be terminated immediately. Full payment for the lesson will still be due, and Panda’s Pedals reserves the right to refuse further tuition.

4. Illness & Health Communication

Driving tuition takes place in a close-contact environment. Open communication regarding illness is expected from both parties.

If the learner is feeling unwell in the days leading up to a lesson, they must inform Panda’s Pedals as soon as possible so an informed decision can be made regarding whether the lesson should proceed.

Similarly, if the Instructor is feeling unwell, Panda’s Pedals will notify the Learner at the earliest opportunity. This may include providing advance notice where symptoms are developing and confirming cancellation if the condition worsens.

This approach is intended to:

• Protect the health of both parties.

• Reduce the spread of illness.

• Allow informed decision-making.

• Maintain clear and professional communication.

• Maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment.

Both parties are expected to be mindful of personal hygiene in consideration of the close-contact nature of lessons.

Panda’s Pedals reserves the right to cancel or rearrange a lesson if either party is considered unfit to proceed due to illness.

5. Working Together

The most successful learners are those who:

• Take an active role in their learning.

• Ask questions and stay engaged.

• Reflect between lessons.

• Trust the coaching process.

By working together in this way, lessons become more effective, progress is faster, and confidence builds naturally over time.

Learners are expected to follow this Pupil Expectations & Learning Agreement, which forms part of the overall Panda’s Pedals service standard.
